Frequently Asked Questions
Q: We need a bike lane on 10 Ave. Does the city have any plans to make this happen?
A: Our new City Council Representative, Erik Bottcher, explained in our last BA meeting that the Dept of Transportation is committed to creating a bike lane along the west side of 10 Ave. However, the project will likely be sequenced with the ongoing construction projects along 10 Ave in the Hudson Yards area. We probably will not see a bike lane until those construction sites are cleared, but a bike lane is definitely in the works.
Q: Why are buildings allowed to keep scaffolding up for inordinately long periods of time? We can’t blame this on COVID because this issue predates the pandemic.
A: One of Erik Bottcher’s top priorities upon taking office in January is to advance a bill that will compel property management companies to complete repairs within a specific period of time so scaffolding can be taken down promptly. If the management company fails to comply, the City will assume the repair project and bill the management company for the work performed.
